I'll say this, I have a sister who has been in to just about everything, she has had to serve some time before, and odds are, will again. She was protected over and over because people knew my parents, they weren't dragged down because of her, she was protected because of them. My parents were as guilty as anybody on rationalizing it, defending her, helping to cover her mistakes and give her multiple chances. She would take the chance and in a short time screw it up again. It has been a continuous mess for nearly 30 years. Its good for a few months, bad for a few months. Yes the system if broken, yes she should have been off the streets, but the embarassment of her name being in the paper doesn't do anything but make people a bit more aware of her. Her family has had to deal with the stigma of her for years, and if people want to blame us for her faults, thats their choice, that's their right and their stupidity. The name being in the paper doesn't bother most of the people arrested or charged. Yeah I'm sure there are so many people who are completely innocent that get caught up in this. *insert roll eyes here*. I'll guarantee that there are plenty of them who say they are innocent, that they did nothing. I've heard that for years too. I've heard my sister swear on her childs life that she wasn't into anything, then 2 minutes later me finding her hidden stash. I believe its like most things, the guy doing 80 down the road swears on their innocence. The ones serving time at Red Onion swear that they were set up, were innocent, were covering for someone. Amazingly, almost all of them do that. My sister will swear right now that she's the victim, she doesn't do anything, welcome to the lifestyle of lying all the time, they get used to lying, and they lie to everybody, you included! You can count on your fingers the ones caught in this string that will admit their guilt. Why? Because the majority are well practiced liars.

It's better to pray for these people. I know some of them might be ruthless and it concerns me that some of these drugs could end up in kids hands, but have you all been to the ER lately for an injury? I have to beleive that if the doctors didn't hand out loratab, oxycontin, other pain drugs like it was lollipops, alot of people wouldn't end up hooked like they do.

My son broke his collarbone and had a concussion last year and every doctor who looked at him offered him loratab or something of that nature. He was 14. He wasn't even complaining of pain. I gave him ibuprofen when he did and it worked just fine. Same thing happened when my husband went to the doctor over a hand injury. Each time he went to a new doctor he came back with a prescription even though he told them he wasn't having pain anymore. I won't even keep stuff like that in my house. My grandmother was robbed a few months ago and all they took was her meds, even her breathing medicine.

The doctors are supposed to ask the patients what kind of meds they are on and you are supposed to get your prescriptions from one pharmacy so that they can keep a check on how many you are taking. This is not done in most cases. If doctor's didn't give it out so freely, we might not have as bad a problem.

When I worked at a facility that treated cancer patients, we had to continually monitor our patients to make sure relatives weren't taking their pain meds we gave them. A few patients were tested to see if they were getting their meds and the tests showed they weren't. One of the problems is, meds meant for terminally ill people are being given to people for minor injuries these day...Give some to someone with an addictive personality and they are hooked and then they go looking for it wherever they can find it.

What concerns me the most about all the drugs in Wise County is how many are getting to the kids...

The whole issue at hand here is socially acceptable practices. The commonwealth att. is an elected position, so the crime that he/she targets needs to be something that the MAJORITY of their constituients are concerned about. Something that is easily said but never remedied is the so called "War on drugs." What makes sense on paper many times does not play out the same way in reality.

Laws, when you strip away all the language and what the "intent and letter" are, you get the mores of society. Utimately, those mores are determined by the majority with the most power. Notice I didn't say majority with the most numbers. It is about a number game, but in terms of worth. The depth of someone's pocket provides much more power and influence than any other characteristic and to say that the US does not have a caste system is a lie from the pits of hell.

Here's "positive" for you... i will positively hunt down any piece of crap that ever offers or sells my kids any dope of any form. I've losy 3 brothers to drugs, and have no tolerance, no patience, no compassion for those who choose to deal/use. People like you make me sick...you want to hide behind some ignorant psychological rhetoric, confess your innocence, yada yada. I pray it isn't a good time for these pieces of crap and that they never have a moment's peace as long as they indulge in such activity. So, drug trafficking is a goof-up? The logic of some people.

i think a jury can def. be predisposed, but only in cases of public nature, i dont think people being accused predisposes a jury
